Volunteering at Kennerleigh and District Community Stores

Kate and Jo do a brilliant job running our community stores - THANK YOU!

But an extra pair of hands makes the task so much easier and more pleasant. It also gives them more time to tackle all the 'hidden' jobs that are involved in running our lovely well stocked shop.

What Can I Do To Help?

There’s a variety of ways you can help out:

  • Restocking shelves
  • Unpacking and storing wholesale orders
  • Serving customers
  • Cleaning and recycling
  • Changing window displays
  • Checking shelf life/use by dates on stock in shop
  • Sorting the daily newspapers
  • Delivering local shop orders
  • Picking up orders from local suppliers like Chulmleigh Bakery, Thornes Shop and Peck & Strong
  • Delivering Sunday papers to Black Dog
  • Publicising the shop to the surrounding villages
  • Writing a regular newsletter
  • Coordinating volunteer labour

As you can see there are plenty of choices for what you can do to help and no one task is particularly onerous!!

When Can I Help?

You can help as often as you are able to do so. Regular commitments are always helpful so Kate and Jo can plan their own workload more effectively. If you have several hours a week or one hour per month or even the odd day free throughout the year – there is bound to be something you can do of value to our Community Stores.

How Do I Help?

If you would like to offer help in the shop you can:

  • Speak to Kate or Jo in the shop
  • Contact them via the website 'Contact' page
  • Telephone the shop

There is usually a Timetable in the shop of when volunteers have signed up for specific tasks - ask to see it when you next go shopping
